Linguists shall perform on an as-needed basis, the specific language tasks listed below per respective category:
- Transcription of spoken language into either the native language or a machine-compatible transliteration system.
- Translation of spoken language or graphic material into modern American English in either full or gisted format.
- Scanning of foreign language material and assigning disposition codes in accordance with established guidance.
- Analysis of material in and of itself or in light of other source information.
- Quality Control of gisted and translated material as requested.
- Sharing of language expertise with Government or Contractor Language and Intelligence Analysts, and other personnel, as requested by the Government.
- Participation in Analyst-to-Analyst exchanges, seminars, conferences, or other for as requested by the Government.
